En+ Group says mulls selling coal-burning thermal power plants

MOSCOW, Nov 20 (PRIME) -- Russian multi-industry holding En+ Group is considering the sale of its coal-burning thermal power plants, a spokesperson for the company told PRIME on Wednesday.

“The board of directors of the group ordered the management to analyze possible options of thermal power assets development. Their sale is one of the options of the strategy, but it is not the only one. A decision has not yet been made,” the person said.

According to Kommersant business daily, En+ Group’s subsidiary Irkutskenergo entered the market with an offer to sell its coal thermal power plants with a combined capacity of up to 3.8 gigawatts (GW) together with the coal pits that are the plants’ resource base. The starting price is 25 billion rubles, and the business daily listed Siberian Generating Company, Inter RAO, and Gazprom Energoholding as the potential buyers.

The combined installed capacity of Irkutskenergo’s power plants stands at 12.9 GW.
